Learn moreRecognize the pattern
Do familiar responses keep creating the same problems?
Emotions become intense and take a long time to settle.
You withdraw, become defensive, shut down, or people-please under stress.
You replay interactions and worry about how others perceived you.
You avoid situations where you might be judged or visibly anxious.
You have made progress in recovery and feel ready to address what is underneath.
How therapy works
Insight matters. So does practicing something different.
Many difficult patterns began as attempts to protect you. Together, we can understand what those responses are trying to accomplish without becoming stuck searching for one perfect explanation.
We will also examine what triggers the pattern now, what it costs you, and what you would like to do differently. My work is informed by parts work, trauma-responsive therapy, motivational interviewing, and exposure-based treatment.

Your full context belongs in the room.
You may not be seeking therapy because of your identity or profession. Still, those experiences can shape your mental health and deserve to be understood.
What can change
A larger life in which discomfort does not have the final vote.
Progress does not mean never feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or uncomfortable again. It can mean recognizing triggers earlier, recovering more quickly, setting boundaries with less guilt, and making choices based on what matters rather than what feels safest.

I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in 2006 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2009. My work focuses on complex trauma, social anxiety, and substance use and recovery.
As a gay therapist and therapist of color, I also bring lived understanding while never assuming that our experiences are identical.
